Tel Meggido

This morning ater breakfast in Tiberius, we packed our stuff on the bus and headed out to go to Bethlehem. Our first stop was to Tel Meggido which is also known as Armageddon where the war between good and evil will rage on at the end of time (See Revelation). This is at a point where lots of lands come together and lots of land can be seen from different places.

Mount Carmel

After Tel Meggido, we headed to Mount Carmel which is not a site of Jesus, but it is the site where the sacrifice of the prophets of Baal by Elijah took place. You can see a bit statue of Elijah that marks the area along with a roof view of the chapel that is there.

We went down the back side of Mount Carmel to eat lunch at a Druze restaraunt. The Druze is a sect of Islam and you can read more about them here. it was a fabulous buffet lunch of tons of different salads and vegetables.

Caesarea Maritima

We ended our official touring before heading to Bethlehem at Caesarea Maritima which was a city founded by King Herod the Great. it was a harbor city so that he could connect his kingdom with the eastern, northern, and southern shore along the Mediterranean Sea. The whole city took herod 12 years to build. Both Peter and Paul came here and started their missionary journeys from here.

Arrival In Bethlehem

We arrived in Bethlehem this evening where we will be staying for the remainder of our trip. Tonight, we were treated to a dinner out at a restaurant known as the Grotto. We were able to eat delicious food and be entertained by Palestinian dancers in traditional Palestinian garb. It was a great evening!
